I set up several social networks back in April in preparation for my blog launch. I added a couple photos and a quick bio and that was about it. I didn't realize the possibilities at the time.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Social media is incredibly powerful, but it must be utilized effectively. My reasons for creating my social networks have changed from just being available to be followed to creating another channel of communication through which I can continue to build trust and relationships with my blog readers.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Excellent post! I'm looking at social media and networking as form of friendship. I ask myself: would I honestly recommend this to a (close) friend, thinking that she would benefit from it.. If the answer is no, I can't recommend it. On the other hand, if I personally find something interesting, I like to tell about that, so the people on my network can see who I am.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I like the last part about transparency as that and honesty has always been important to me, not just in social marketing but in "real life" too. And that's what it's all about - looking at these social network services like social networks, your family, friends - and so many seem to forget this. Which makes them more popular and so on.
